Local Restaurants We Like To Frequent

The Attic – Open Monday through Friday for breakfast or lunch until 4 p.m. Caroline and her mom have the best quesadillas and roti’s on island. You can also find the best in tropical drinks.

The Olveston House – This is home to Sir George Martin and has recently opened as a new restaurant on island. Margaret and Carol teamed up together to offer you nice meals at reasonable prices. They are open by reservation, so call in advance. Their hours are changing to meet the needs of their customers. You’ll love sitting on the porch where family members are available to take care of your needs.

John Ponteen’s Beach View Bar - located next to the Green Monkey at Little Bay. John serves Sunday lunch with a choice of BBQ chicken and Ribs with a great assortment of island vegetables on the side. John cooks it all on his small outside BBQ grill. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss. Relax with a drink; each meal is made to order so there’s no rushing here. John has also started a Wednesday night BBQ and added pumpkin soup to the menu. Local music is also part of this nice evening atmosphere.

People’s Place, a little local bar on top of the Center Hills, is where you’ll often find travelers stopping for a beer and a moment of conversation. John serves a great Talapia at this little “hot” spot. It’s nothing to look at from the outside, but it’s worth the stop just for the experience.

Tina’s Restaurant – Located on the other side of the island, Tina’s is open for lunch and dinner and has great local food. Their famous pizzas are served on the dinner menu.

Ziggy’s Restaurant – Just getting to Ziggy’s is an adventure in itself, but it gets even better once inside. You’ll be greeted by Marcia when you enter through the tent which houses the seating area. The atmosphere is soothing and romantic, so save this for a special evening. They are open strictly by appointment, so it’s best to call upon your arrival so you don’t miss it. They are a bit pricey but worth it. They have a wine room where you can go and pick out your wine for the evening; or you can buy the house wine by the glass.

The Royal Palm is high up into the mountains. Here you’ll find a classy restaurant with a sunset view. It’s a great place to have a before or after dinner drink and meet new people, as it has the nicest late night bar on island. Worth the trip just to experience it. They have limited hours, so call in advance.

FYI - Tuesday night is move night at the Royal Palm. Call Trevor for the week’s showing.

Idabelle’s Restaurant is located on the bottom floor at the Tropical Mansion Hotel in Sweeney’s which you would have passed on your way here from the airport. Idabelle’s is open for lunch and dinner (subject to change, of course). Her food is local fair and Idabelle does a great job of seasoning and serving it just right. There is not much atmosphere in the restaurant; the few seats outside are the most enjoyable.
